The European Sales Director of this global logistics company had recently taken over a new team which was widely dispersed around Europe. It was a large team and many of its members were also new to the team
How did we help?
Through a series of meetings with team members individually, and finally with the whole team, we:
- created a new shared vision of the future, inside the existing corporate vision
- resolved barriers to working as a team
- encouraged team members consciously to choose to work as a team
- aligned on common values
- developed common disciplines and behaviours for working as a team
Team members now understand each other's working style and priorities, know each other better and have developed trust and a strong partnership with each other. The measures of success have been team satisfaction, capability of the team to perform, and feedback from them on 4 key dimensions (of team performance).
As a result the team is delivering on incredible stretch targets and making tremendous progress.
"Our experience of Shine has been extremely positive - when I first met them, I liked the personality and rigour that I saw. Our relationship is open; we have very honest discussions about anything. The consultants in Shine have the ability to focus the discussion on key points and bring a novel perspective. They provoke us to interesting challenges and ways of doing our business differently. I personally like the 'no bullshit' approach used in running sessions and discussions, especially when the discussion is touchy - it's important to approach this professionally.
I have been amazed at how effectively people assimilate the learning from the development events and use it during the year - the glue sticks more than I would have expected. Shine's interventions have been extremely effective: this is the reason why a one-off intervention is becoming a regular intervention."
